Mom and Dad Scribner came to visit for Thanksgiving. When they arrived, Robert was on a week long trip to Charleston. They suggested that I drive up and join him for a few days while they watched the kids.
And really, does anyone ever say no to something like that? So, I hopped into the car and started driving. I got there on Thursday night and Robert and I were able to spend the evening walking around town.
We stopped at the pier where there were a bunch of swings and spent awhile just looking over the dark ocean and the lights of Charleston. It's so relaxing not having little people pulling at you all day long.
The next day Robert and I had breakfast and off he went to work. I was able to meet him for a few minutes during his lunch break.
Look...and actual, working, payphone. Not many of those left.
After I left Rob, I took a long walk long the waterfront, and hung out on the pier for awhile.
Then I walked up and down the streets and walked into every single art shop I found.
Later that evening Robert and I went out to a lovely dinner that we had right out on the ocean.
After dinner we found a bunch of desert places and late night restaurants...but it took awhile to find even one place that had hot chocolate. Weird.
Once we found it, I sat down and enjoyed a cup. Robert sat down and fell asleep.
On Saturday morning we walked around Charleston. I'm sure the last thing Robert wanted to do was to keep walking around town, but he was kind to indulge me. I love all that old architecture.
Look...It's the old 'Scribner' house. You can tell by the giant iron S out in front. :)
Then we checked out of Robert's hotel...don't you love the weird seats they had in the front lobby?
I was a quick trip, but one I really enjoyed.
