Christmas Choir

Jason did a wonderful job singing in his school's concert.

He even had a small solo.

We also got an ice-storm.  It was chilly but beautiful.

Christmas Parade

Even though Robert was still feeling pretty crumby, he was a good sport to join us as we went to Charlestown's Christmas Parade.

The parade started with Santa stuck on the town's bank.

The firemen came and helped him down, like they apparently do every single year.

He got down safe and sound and joined Mrs. Claus.

The parade was full of school bands, grinches, horses and lots of firetrucks.  It was a lot a fun to watch, but as soon as it was over, Robert was very much ready to go home.

 December 2022

We welcomed December with our favorite visitor....baby black bear.  This bear had been terrorizing our chickens all month.  We finally had to bring them back into the garage to keep them safe.  This picture was taken just outside our kitchen window, with no zooming of the picture.  It had been right outside our door eating Penny's food right before I took this picture.  When baby bear was on the fence, Robert thought that it would be effective to shoot that bear with his pellet gun.  When Robert shot the first shot, bear just shrugged and kept coming.  When he shot the second shot, bear didn't even flinch.  It did look like he was getting irritated, however.  That's when we decided that maybe Robert should close the window and wait.

Robert's Birthday!

Look who tuned 47!  (P.S.  Yes, I did put 47 candles on the cake.)  We had a quiet birthday dinner, but Austin joined us to sing happy birthday.

Thanksgiving 2022

Robert had his shoulder surgery right before Thanksgiving.  We flew Ethan home to help drive Robert to his surgery in Georgia and then he drove him back home.

As soon as they got home, I had Thanksgiving dinner all ready to eat.  It was a few days early, but we wanted to have it while Ethan was still with us.

Here is Robert right after his surgery.

And dinner.  Look how drugged Robert looks.

Robert did his best to eat some food, and Ethan wasn't feeling well, and so he didn't eat very much.  The boys are picky, so basically I ate a really awesome dinner all by myself.

Just so this is recorded in the annals of history...this was truly my best turkey ever.  It was absolutely delicious.  It was tender and juicy and perfect.  No one is ever going to remember that from this dinner, but me, but I wouldn't lie to my progeny.  Just accept this as gospel truth.

Best.  Turkey.  Ever.

Then, as soon as Ethan came, he was back on the road to fly back to Utah.

Boo!  Not enough time!

 November 2022

I don't have a whole lot of pictures from November, and mostly this is because I spent most of my time painting furniture.

We bought this dresser for about $40, and I took this...

And turned it into this.

And then I took our old bunk beds and...

And turned it into this:

Robert looks exhausted from all my painting.

Happy Halloween!

Halloween Dinner

These kids really got a bucket load of candy this year.  They went to the church trunk-or-treat, the school trunk-or-treat and then we actually went trick or treating in a nearby community.
