July

One Sunday, Mom took us to see Dad's gravestone.  It was the first time any of us had seen it.  It is a beautiful stone, and the graveyard is in such a pretty place.  It is strange thing to visit a gravesite.  the last time we had been there, was during Dad's funeral.  That time, it was so emotional.  This time, however, it felt very much like Dad wasn't hanging around there.  It almost feels like a picture on a wall...something that reminds you of the person you love, but you know that person is off somewhere else, peaceful and happy.

Another day Alaina, Mom and I went to BYU to watch a conference put on by President Uchtdorf.  (Actually it was to celebrate July 4th...even though President Uchtdorf was quick to mention the irony that he was chosen to speak, since he is German.)  It was a lovely event, however.

Later in the month we celebrated Mom's Birthday.  We got to spend the actual day with Mom, but that weekend, the rest of the families came for a fun, low-key dinner to help celebrate again.

We even managed to squeeze in a Pioneer day Parade.  I swear that no one knows how to do parades like Utahans.  This was just a small town parade, and still there were tons of big floats and lots and lots of horses.

I guess the Bishops and the Stake President got together for this sweet ride.  They motorized the couches.  It was pretty funny.

One last silly picture.  On one of our little walks up the hill, Emmett got made and kicked his sandal up in a tree.  The twins are here trying to get it out.  Why, in the world, was Alaina holding up Austin and not the other way round?  We'll never know.
