Christmas Eve 2020
We shared a special Covid-style Christmas Eve with our family. Aunty-T and Grandma and Grandpa Jones joined us on Zoom. While Grandpa read the story of Jesus' birth, Tonnette got to be the 'Star' of the play. Literally. She had a star background and Robert held her up high over the kids while they acted out the Christmas story.
The twins were Mary and Joseph
and Emmett was our Angel.
Ethan was a shepherd and Jason was all three wise men.
It was fun to share this tradition with Mom, Dad and Tonnette...like we have on so many other Christmas Eves...but if life was perfect...we would have wanted them in person. Still, we are grateful for the blessings we have, and technology made a hard year of missing family just a bit better.
Our littles got the milk and cookies ready for Santa.
And then off to bed they went...
while Santa's elf got busy. (the other elf was recuperating from surgery, so he went to bed.)
finally, the room was ready.
There is something special about a Christmas tree, on Christmas Eve (or technically, Christmas morning) when the house is silent and the anticipation is heavy in the air. I think I could have stayed watching that tree until morning.
Except...I was too exhausted. So, off to bed I went, too. For a couple hours, at least.
