Happy Fourth of July 2021

We started the morning with a July 4th Breakfast.

No 4th of July is complete without a bike parade.

Or an awesome dinner.

And those street fireworks.

Happy 4th.

The extras.

Alaina and I walked to the Jefferson Memorial one afternoon.

We took a day to go to the zoo.

And we took another day to drive through the countryside to figure out just where we wanted to live when we actually move next summer.

And we took another day to visit the Spy Museum...and I could post those pictures, but then I'd have to kill you.

hee hee.

It was such a busy, wonderful trip.  We all enjoyed spending so much time together and getting to know Virginia just a little bit better.

Mount Vernon - Day 5

If I could retire anywhere, I choose to live at Mount Vernon.

Washington's tomb

The garage.

Slave quarters.

We got to take a tour through the house, and right there in the middle of the home is the Key to Bastille Prison.

It was a gift from the Marquis de Lafayette to George Washington in  I790.  It was so cool to see.

Just look at that view!

We love kicking it on the back porch.

Emmett was sooooo tired when we were ready to go....and these boys were ready to help him out.

Day 4 - Arlington Cemetery

Watching the changing of the guard is always a highlight of Arlington.  It is such solemn exchange, and I really love watching it.  Remembering those who have died, serving our great nation, is the very least we, as Americans, can do.  I am so grateful for the freedoms that we exercise every single day in a country that has ever moved forward.  From the chaotic moments of its beginning, through bloody war after bloody war, we have worked hard to improve ourselves and fulfill, the best we know how, the aspirations of the founding fathers.

For the lives of all those who have made this possible, I give my complete respect and gratitude.
