In October we had a big 4 day weekend come up and so we decided that we just needed to go to San Diego to visit Spencer and his family.  And of course, see Legoland.  For anyone who knows our kids at all, they will know that Austin has been dreaming of Legoland for the last three to four years.  With every Lego magazine that we've gotten in the mail, came a very desperate plea, "When?!  When can we go to Legoland!!!!???"

Now that we we have been living a mere 5 hours away, the fact that we haven't made it out there yet was simple inexcusable for Austin.  So we planned to go.  Despite our very best efforts, the trip out there was not as seamless as one would have hoped.  Let's just say it combined a very late start with throw-up (not just all over the car...but on the dog too!), a dead battery and a visit from AAA in the middle of nowhere in the pitch black.  But hey.  It forced us to stop our busy busy life to see all the amazing stars that are only visible when you are an hour into the desert.  :)

Yes.  It was a very bumpy start, but the next morning, bright and early, we made our way to Legoland!!  Yeah!  I do believe it was everything Austin had dreamed it to be, for all those years.  The weather was fair and because we were there on a random Thursday, there were no crowds at all.  (A dream come true in MY book!)

Here was a life-sized version of Luke Skywalker's fighter jet.  We didn't get it all in one picture, but it was pretty amazing.

There were some fun rides for the kids, but after waiting in line with Jason for the big kids to go, we decided it would be so much more fun for everyone if we split up.

Jason and I went to a fun play area while Robert took the kids to a bunch of fun rides.

One of the most amazing parts of the park was the mini-America section.  They had all the major cities with their most famous landmarks made out of Legos.  Someone seriously had too much time on their hands.

An hour or so before closing time, Spence came up with Myles and Ellie to join us.

We went to a few more rides and we even found one that allowed cute little almost-two-year-olds.  Jason loved this ride so much he kept begging us to go on it over and over again.  Thank goodness there weren't any lines!

For the last little bit of time, we walked next door to the Sea World aquarium.  Spencer somehow had sweet-talked his way both into Legoland and the Sea World without having a ticket.  It must have helped that his kids had full passes and that it was so close to the end of the day...but, still.  He is one cool cat.

By closing time, we were all ready to go.  We all packed ourselves into the car and headed off to the beach to catch the sunset.  Jason was asleep the moment we got in the car and he stayed asleep for our entire beach experience.

Spencer took the kids up through the rocks and showed them all the really cool places on the beach.

It was pretty chilly, but Legoland had tuckered that child out!

My belly makes the perfect little seat for baby Jason to fall right asleep.

The sunset was a beautiful end to such a fun and busy day.
