Nearly every day we spent on the beach, we were able to catch at least one crab from the sandbars.  Robert and Ron caught most of them, but the kids caught a couple as well.  Ethan and Austin both ran the crabs into the nets while the other kids tried to catch them in a net.

Every day the kids built a mini pond to watch the crabs and then at the end of the day we let them go.  Robert told the kids that they were too small too eat but if they caught 6 of them, he would take them home and have crab for dinner.  Well, on the last day, Alaina caught one.  Then Wyatt caught one and before you knew it, Robert and Ron had caught the rest.  The kids were really excited to see what crab tasted like, but Alaina was devastated.  She felt terrible that they were going to get cooked up and even worse because she was the one who had caught one of them.  My tough little girl can be so tender sometimes.

Well, they cooked them up and I must admit, they were pretty tasty.  Even with 6 of them, however, there was just barely enough crab for everyone to have a taste.  Here are some pictures of them before they went to crab heaven.

The catch.

We also spent one afternoon hanging out at a turtle sanctuary.  The save these turtles after they have been damaged in some way and either they wait until they are healed and ready to be released back to the wild, or they keep them there.   This little guy has a leg prosthesis after he got attacked by a shark.  He really could move fast with that on  him.

Alaina and Kyla.  Alaina loved it here.  I think she'd do well as a marine biologist.

It was a fun place to stop, but after one hour we were sweating like dogs.  Look how shiny and pretty we are.  :)
